With this project we want to exchange practices on how to best respond to the needs of socially excluded people by improving their psychosocial and communication skills so as to improve their ability to handle situations of confrontation and violence. It is the consensus of the entire teaching community that during the past decade, they have noticed increased levels of asocial behaviour in their students. Young people tend to be less cooperative, uninterested in civic participation and particularly prone to resolve disagreements and disputes in a very confrontational manner.

Regardless of how these issues manifest in the educational and professional arena, they have far reaching consequences for our entire communities and they impact in a most profound way social dynamics since they affect social groups in differing ways. In effect we notice that they amplify the already existing societal and economic discrepancies and they often act as a catalyst for racist and xenophobic incidents and the further marginalization and political radicalization of youngsters not in education, employment or training.

The COVID situation has further complicated this situation because it has heavily impacted physical and mental health, the socioeconomic wellbeing of most citizens and it is no surprise that we have witnessed a rise in the demand for our services. This is due to the nature of psychosocial support which is a transversal way of working and an important component of high-quality interventions designed to positively impact the well being of people. Such actions require specific and precise skills on the part of our trainers at the level of practical experience, leadership, the ability to create bonds, active listening, and meaning given to the activities through feedback. Therefore, strengthening the skills of our personnel in this area is considered by our organizations a top priority and it is essential for virtually all of the actions we implement.
